Today is the first day of Golden Week. Bryan, Neil, and I took this opportunity to sleep in to the late hours of the afternoon. Bryan must have really needed it as his work schedule borders on 100 hours a week, it seems. For some evil reason, however, I could not sleep past 10 am, so I spent a quiet and peaceful listening to music, reading, and recording our journey in my log.

It was very warm when we got up and out of the house. We didn't have time to do much else for the day so the four of us, Noriko, Bryan, Neil, and I went downtown and walked around a bit. We got some drinks at a pretty hip bar, walked through the gay district, and then had dinner at Bryan's favorite restaurant, which was very nice. I would describe the restaurant but we have decided that it would be a good idea to bring the eatery style to America and we can't have anyone stealing this idea, y'hear?

The dinner, however, gave Neil and I an opportunity to buy Bryan and Noriko a meal to convey some of our gratitude at their seemingly unending hospitality.

We then watched 'Tears of the Black Tiger', a classic Thai western. It is quite an interesting movie and visually appealing. That's about it, just a lazy day to start off Golden Week.
