Casey took me over to his new house in Bensheim. It was really nice - brand new. He took me downtown to the Bensheim Hauptstrasse (pedestrian street). There were some really nice restaurants, cafes, and shops. It's definitely a rich town and a very nice place to be.
Casey took me up to the Bensheim Castle up on the hill. We took some pictures and really enjoyed a great view from the one of the castle towers.
That night more of our friends came up - Chris, John, and Ferg - all hilarious individuals and together we're completely bulletproof. Next door to Casey's house is a great Greek restaurant. We had some beers, some bread, some saganaki, and tons of meat - lamb, pork, beef. It was very delicious and my first real dinner in my return to the civilized world.
After dinner we went downtown to enjoy some German hefeweizen. To my surprise, the bar we went to had pints of Newcastle as well. I was a little shocked to see a good deal of people out late night on a Tuesday. I'll have to keep that in mind for when I get back to Germany for good.
Needless to say I passed out at Casey's house that night with a belly full of great food and drink. A great end to a very long day.
A fantastic way to kick off a vacation with friends. Thanks guys. You're the best!
