To get to Van Vieng we took a six hour minibus trip through the mountains on the windiest road ever.

Its a very small town, really only two or three small streets but its full of bars and restaurants and seems to be mainly backpackers.

Went tubing which involves renting out a large inflated tube for the day. Then you get a taxi to a few miles away from town where you then sit in the tube and float down the river. As you float down there are bars everywhere and you just signal that you want to go in for a few beers. So a guy for the bar throws out a bamboo stick and pulls you ashore until you decide its time to float on down to the next bar. Thers a great party atmosphere at all the bars, most of them had music on the speakers and ropes you can dive in the water from, which most people use as the day moves on.

The tubing finishes up about six o Álock when it gets dark but most people just move on to the bars after. Great town, shame we only really had one full day as we had to back to Luang Prabang to catch our flight to Siem Reap, would have liked a while longer.
