Merry Christmas, Folks!

We find ourselves on the road again . . . we are heading to Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) Mexico!  We plan to meet up with our friends from Suncrest . . . We will be camping at The Reef RV Park, right on the beach!

We were up early this morning, finished packing the important stuff in the RV REFRIGERATOR which can be kind of scarey!  We encountered a gentle mist-type rain most of the trip.  I has been raining in our area in Arizona the past 3 days . . . We left by 9am and made our way out I-8 to Gila Bend and turned south on Highway 85 . . . the desert forest is a forest of cactus not fir trees as we are so used to.  The desert changes from Sbarro & Joshua Tree Cactus and barren sand to Ocatillo and scarce Joshua Tree Cactus.  We passed thru Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument  (http://www.nps.gov/orpi/parknews/prkit-designation.htm)  which was designated an International Biosphere Reserve.  International Biosphere Reserves are a project of the Man and the Biosphere program of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Reserves are protected samples of the world's major ecosystem types. These sites are standards against which we can measure human impact on our environment and predict its probable effects. There are now over 190 reserves in 50 countries.

We met up with Dale & Gail in Lukesville, AZ, bought our Mexican Insurance and crossed the border into Mexico arriving at Rocky Point early afternoon.  Puerto Penasco Mexico is Rocky Point Mexico and is known as Arizona's Mexican Beach.  Our campsite is right on the beach! Rowdy is checking out all the birds!  Will write more tomorrow.  Oh . . . it stopped raining and we had a gorgeous sunset!  Miss you all.  Wish you were here!  Jim & Connie . . . and Rowdy too!
