We shot over to the Gili Islands for a couple of nights, a 'must see' based on advice from Carl, Sarah and the Summers - great advice as well!!

The Gili's consist of 3 Islands, we stayed on the largest, Gili Trawanagan, with a population of 800 people - no vehicles on the island or police presence. Not much to do other than, drink, eat, snorkel, sun yourself and relax! Perfect!

We were booked into Dream Village Bungalow - we thought Mum and Dad should definately experience the Beach Bungalow thing (we booked something nice though, a bit more upmarket! Still rustic mind). With open Air showers this would be a first for them.......we left the open air showers detail as a surprise for them...they enjoyed them and made the most of it, but don't think they will be installing one back home.....

We had some great meals on Gili with some excellent fish including Mahi Mahi - superb, yum!

We travelled to and from Gili via the Gili Cat (was a tad choppy in places as well.....) a small Catamaran that did the jouney in approx 2hours (only 1 hr 30 mins on the way, he didn't hang around!) We decided not to mention the fact that they would have to disembark the Catamaran via a wooden plank onto the beach at the other end....didn't want to bother them with minor details such as this eh!!?? Getting on and off took some mastering......

The Gili Cat was great, we spotted Dolphins on the way - jumping along side the boat (and keeping up!). On the way back we spotted dolphins again and were lucky enough to spot a Whale!! The skipper spotted one blowing water on the horizon and we headed straight for it, was excellent!  Margarida unfortunately was feeling too sea sick...(or maybe too many cocktails the night before?) to spot the whale!!
