29/09/09 - The day started off badly for me as somehow I managed to download a virus onto the netbook. We both realised how much we relied on the computer (to plan our trip, contact family and to write this blog!) and we felt completely lost without it. We decided to drive up to Bal Harbour (a shopping mall), to see if we could pick up a cheap laptop, thinking this was our only option.  However, Bal Harbour turned out to be full of swanky shops (Chanel, Armani and Jimmy Choo to name a few!) with not a IT store in sight, so we returned home empty-handed. We headed back to the house and when we got home Laura had the idea of logging onto the Norton website where she spoke to an IT consultant who manged to clear the virus remotely (cost $100, but cheaper than a new laptop).

30/09/09 - This was not a good day weather-wise for the first time since we had been in Miami - a lot of cloud and no sun all day long - still 32 degrees though! With no sunbathing to occupy us, we decided to have a walk around the private island we were staying on. The houses on the island ranged from Spanish-style villas to American art deco, all very 'picture perfect'. We finished the day with a nighttime soak in the outdoor jacuzzi accompanied by a cold beer and ice-cream!!

01/10/09 - During the night the mosquitoes had taken a liking to Laura and she was bitten head to toe, me being not bitten once! As this was our last full day in Miami, we were hoping for some sunshine and we were not disappointed. We spent the day by the pool to conserve our energy(!) for the trip down to the Keys the next day.

The last few days at the villa have definitely been the most luxurious part of trip so far, and spending a few days by a pool with geckos, butterflies and tropical birds has definitely relaxed our souls. Saying that though, we both agree we are getting itchy feet and are more than ready to leave Miami and continue on our journey...
