Moving day....packed up our cases and moved down the street to a studio apartment. It's lovely with lots of weird art on the walls. Left the apartment to pick up our tickets in advance to Washington DC from Penn station. Saw Madison Square Gardens where Jay-Z is performing tomorrow night in honour of 9/11 (all proceeds go to the widows fund). Caught the subway downtown to Greenwich Village (supposedly where 'Friends' is set). Walked through Washington Square Park and the main drag, Bleecker Street. NYU has a campus in the village, so there is a cool studenty vibe to the area. Lots of gourmet food shops and cafes too. Stopped off at an Italian restaurant for lunch - Jim very excited about having authentic spaghetti and meatballs! We both loved the village and decided if we ever moved to NY then we would live there!

Took the subway back to Chelsea to explore 'Chelsea Market'. Huge indoor foodhall with every speciality food store you could imagine. Lots of nice cafes too. Great place.

After a quick detour via the apartment, we jumped back on the subway up to Times Square - WOW! Complete visual overload. Photos just don't do it justice! Queued at the TKTS booth to try and get discount broadway tickets. In luck - we got tickets to 'In The Heights' at 30% off (still $180 though!). The show was incredible and would definietly recommend it. It's set in Washington Heights in uptown NY. Standing ovation at the end...even Jim enjoyed it! Took a cab back to our apartment..first dodgy experience... drove like a maniac, didn't have his meter on and instead charged us a flat fare, JIm reckoned he was also swigging from a liquor bottle! Had a bit of a confrontation with him because he wouldn't take us down the street and instead dropped us off at the nearest corner on 8th Ave (maybe this is normal? Annie?). Anway makes a good story!

All in all another great day in NYC.

New York City, or the Big Apple as it sometimes referred as, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with famous landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State building and the countless amount of shops around the city which threaten to leave every tourist penniless! One of the other attractions that lure tourists into the vibrant city is the Broadway theatre. With forty professional theatres in the Theatre District, you are spoilt for choice as to which show to go to, but at least you know you will at least get some Broadway tickets New York City!
