Well St Kilda boat ramp is a nice spot to spend a day, plenty going on, fishing, good park for detecting and not far from an overnight camping spot! Which brings me to a rant about Camps Books!
Number 10 still hasnt been born, so the Bunkhouse is doing the rounds of six or so of my favourite overnight spots in or very close to Adelaide. I am minus Jimmy which the missus has! Now none of these spots appear in any publication that I am aware of, they are not in industrial areas (nothing wrong with that anyway!) are quiet, perfectly legal and where needed I have council approval! Last night another couple pulled in in a Coaster motorhome and this morning we shared info about good spots, as they are doing a similar thing. I now have three new spots, two waterfront where I can park legally, remember we are parking 11 metres! and they werent aware of some of mine!
Now are either of us going to publish any of these places anywhere? You would have to be flippin mad!!
I will relate an episode that we witnessed at a site recently. This site is listed in Camps Australia Wide within an hour of Adelaide, at a community oval, in view of houses, but is council approved.
For a start there were far more campers there than I have ever seen in previous years A large converted bus towing a large enclosed trailer pulls in and disengorges Dad ,Mum,three kids and wait for it, two dogs! Now do they park in a corner or alongside a fence out of the way? no sirree, they choose to park right alongside the public picnic table! In short order the four wheel drive comes out of the trailer and is parked on an angle at the front of the bus, the awning and chairs come out along with a playpen and bbq, the sat dish gets set up further afield taking up more space, then comes out the Lemair washing machine! Mum starts knocking off water from the small rainwater tank at the nearby clubrooms to feed the Lemair, the dogs are off pissing on everything within coeee, in between screaming the kids are digging holes with plastic spades and Dad has decided there is something wrong with the 4 wheel drive and is revving the crap out of it!! When the first load of washing is on Mum rigs up a clothesline between the awning arm and the back of the trailer.Oh I nearly forgot, before Dad started revving the crap out of the four wheel drive he started up a huge diesel genny mounted on the A frame of the trailer, loud enough to disturb the dead in the cemetery down the road!
Before political correctness asserted itself I would have said they had the place looking like a blackfellas camp inside an hour!! perhaps now I should say it looked like Steptoe&Son!!!
Do you get the picture? No way am I going to share anything anywhere that wankers like this may get hold of! I bet if I went back there in a fortnights time they would still be there, and then the council will close the place down. Now I hear the do gooders say they are probably down on their luck and dont have a choice, they do, they can start by considering the effect of their actions on those around them, and they can get rent assistance to go park in a caravan park, the only trouble being that any caravan park manager worth his weight in cocky shite would see them coming a mile away and refuse their booking!
Camps Books have made it all too easy for bogans to find and ruin what were once great places to stop for a night or two. But heres the thing, bogans cause sites to be closed down, dontknowbettas list sites on the CMCA Wiki to later be published in The Wanderers Mate to be given to every terrorist who hires a whizbang and suddenly the Camps people have got the fodder to publish a new edition!!! so more bogans can find and ruin more spots!!!
You have got to freakin wonder!!
