Our plan for today is to go to Mass at 0900 hours this morning. St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church is in town about 4 miles distance. What time are you setting the alarm for, My Sweetie? "0630" is her reply. Why so early, My Sweetie? Her reply- "We have to get up and turn on the coffee pot. Then we have to get dressed. Then we have to make breakfast. Then we have to eat. Then we have to feed the dogs. Then we have to walk the dogs. Then I have to put curlers in my hair. Then I have to take them out and brush my hair. Then we have brush our teeth. Then we have to put the furry ones in the truck, get into it ourselves and drive to the church". SHEESH, are we busy! After all of that we arrive at the church 1/2 hour early!

St. Elizabeth is surprisingly large. Shouldn't be a surprise as it is the only Catholic church in DHS.
DHS is what us locals call Desert Hot Springs. During Mass I recall listening to an Australian fella by the name of Matthew Kelly. He has been extolling the virtues of church teachings for years. He subscribes to the KISS theory. He takes complicated subject and make them very simple and easy to understand. Anyhow, his subject addressed the excuses people make for not wanting to go to Mass. Too long, Boring, The Cantor Has A Terrible Voice and a thousand more excuses he rattles off in rapid succession. Most are hilarious.

The excuse that stuck in my mind was "The Cantor Has A Terrible Voice". Good reason not to go to church, eh? You most likely understand where I'm going with this. St. Elizabeths cantor has less than a stellar voice. I almost blurted out my thought to Jil. Fortunately I was able to control myself. Anyway, the church was almost filled to capacity and everyone seemed happy with their cantor so who am I to judge. The Mass was enjoyable and as always we come away with the desire to follow the teachings of Jesus.

After church we took a little tour of downtown DHS. We looked down into the valley and were treated to a spectacular display of the sun's rays shining through the clouds over Mt. San Jacinto. Yes, God is looking down on us today!

We spent the rest of the day exploring the resort. Our list on things to accomplish today: Find the driving range and golf clubhouse- check. Walk the furry ones- check. Work out in the fitness center- check. Watch a little football- check. Take our Downtube collapsible bikes out of the cargo bay, set them up and ride them- check. Take a few pictures of the resort- check. Pray for forgiveness for my less than Christian like toughts about the cantor- check and double check!

I will be giving you a tour of the resort within the next few days. It is quite a nice place.
