The hotel was 3* and only 45€ a night with 5€ for a simple breakfast. It was right opposite a small gardens area and very close to all the main attractions of Seville which are the buildings and the cathedral and the parks.
After rising and having our breakfast in the cool of the hotel, we stepped outside into hot air. The hotel reception had kitted us out with a city map and directions. We never found out the temperature but I'm guessing in the 40C + region. In Seville you can walk everywhere easily. The streets are mostly pedestrianised or with the tram/taxis and the horse and carriages only driving through
The cathedral is the main attraction so we went there first. It was as most cathedral interiors but with the tomb of Christopher Columbus. The main tower was originally a minaret but when the Christians took power it was made into the tower seen today. We decided as we were there to do 'climb the tower’ thing and walked up 35 ramps to get to the top (see photos). The ramps are so that the priest could ride up on his horse!
The heat was too much for me and Steve so regular sit downs and cold drinks were essential to keep going. My fan came in very handy.
With some other sightseeing done we went back to the hotel to cool down before going out for a meal later. Tapas in general were on the menus and we tried some of those with a jug of Sangria.
Back to Chipiona the next day but we found the Plaza de Espana and the park and a couple of museums closeby before collecting our shopper and catching the bus back.
Seville is a city that is worth a visit but not in August. Spring or Autumn would be a lot more comfortable.
When we got back to Chipiona it felt cool after Seville and we were back onboard by 8.15pm.
