After more than a year of diligent planning, countless trips to REI, pouring over Lonely Planet guidebooks and, oh yeah, getting married, we are finally ready to begin "The Great Adventure (TGA) 2004!" Jill and I have referred to this trip as TGA '04 since we first came up with the crazy idea of leaving our jobs and traveling around the world in 2004. On Wednesday night we watched the ball drop in Times Square, so it must be time for us to take off!

Our last entry began describing our DC apartment in chaos as we packed box after box of knick-knacks, clothes we rarely wear, and random stuff we have accumulated after living together for only one year. Tonight, as we type this message in the comforts of Andy's Dad's home in Colorado, all of the earthly possessions for the upcoming year have been crammed into two Eagle Creek backpacks. It was quite a feat!

Of course, the past couple weeks haven't been devoted solely to packing for the trip. The big event was our wedding on December 21. For all those who made it to Colorado, thank you for celebrating our special day with us! For all those who couldn't make it, we've posted some pictures from the big day to give you a glimpse of what transpired. We have many wonderful memories from the whole weekend, from the beautiful day of skiing with friends two days before the wedding to the climactic moment when Jill walked down the aisle (Note: not posted on the site is the picture of Andy crying). We also had a great reception at Boettcher Mansion and were so pleased that the snow held off until we awoke the next morning at our B&B in the mountains.

So, tomorrow we travel to Los Angeles to visit a few friends before we head out for Thailand on Wednesday night. It will be nice to relax for a few days and get ready for TGA '04! We hope you enjoy our entries over the coming year... we won't look nearly as snazzy as we do in these photos!
