Today our second day in Cucuta we had a tour of the local newspaper "La Opinion" and were interviewed as well by the paper. They took us around to see the workings of the newspaper. It was very nice as we took the tour with a young class of schoolgirls, however I think our presence were more of an atraction than the newspaper to the girls. We then went to the ourskirts of Cucuta to visit a Rotary project. It was a k-5 school in a very poor neighborhood. The Rotary club has supplied the school with operational needs in order to give the less fortunate children of that neighborhood educations. Still they are very poor circumstances... the lunch that is provided for the kids will be their only meal of the day for some.
The Rotary meeting we attended in the evening was at an outdoor park... apply named "Rotary Park" as you will see from the large Rotary Bell in the pictures. Our presentations are going well I think!

Jamie, this is great! Thanks for sharing all the picture and telling the story of your adventure. The Rotary is doing so many amazing things!
Thanks for filling me in on the schools. It reminds me a lot of my time working in a school in Ecuador.
Keep up the great posts!
"La Opinion." Spanish for "The Opinion"
