We left Bogota yesterday via Avianca airlines.  Nice Airbus jet... much more technically advanced cabin that I have ever flown in. We were greeted by about 20 or so from the local rotary clubs... not to mention the sweltering heat and humidity.  The normal temperature here in Cucuta runs about 30 C.  It was late afternoon when we arrived so I got a short tour around the city which has a population of around 700k?  I am staying with Melvin & Claudia Hurtado and their two sons.  Melvin is president of one of the local rotary clubs.  I belive there are 8 clubs in Cucuta.  Of course we did not have much time and were off to our first meeting and presentation.  It was at a local golf and tennis club and was very nice.  Our presentation however was strained because we lost our 5th menber Brent who was the guy fluent in spanish, and not many of the rotary members can understand english.  We did get by and had our presentation "pseude" translated by a couple of the members.  All in all it went well I think!
Today we are off in a short time for vocational visits so I must go get ready!
Hasta leugo...

That is one of the greatest learning experiences of all; getting used to the language barriers and working to communicate. It's tough, but by the time you are ready to come home you will probably be used to it. All the best!
