So last weekend was our in-depth tour of Thessaloniki. We finally experienced the Saturday market, found good American food, and had a chance to sit back and relax before we rushed into this week of school. We also were supposed to go scuba diving in a nearby city but Sunday morning was FREEZING when we woke up and stayed cold throughout the rest of the day according to the weather channel. So we decided to skip it instead. At least we saved the 50 euros. My roommate came back on Sunday from Oktoberfest and unfortunately for me, he was still drunk. Kyle is a good drunk though, not beligerrant in anyway, but the night ended badly for him as he kept drinking throughout the day and ended up blacking out for the rest of the night. Him and a few other guys filled us in on their trip to Germany, where Kyle was their translator as he spoke German himself. Apparently they set up 14 tents in Munich, and each one holds aboout 12,000 people. Hard to believe I know but, when Kyle showed me pictures I have to say it looked like a mad house. So for most of Sunday Megan and I sat and listened to crazy stories about German beer and the make-shift rollercoasters they bring in for the festival. But when night came Megan and I watched a movie to end the night and got ready for the next week of school.
Classes go by pretty easily for me, my toughest class as of right now is Economic Politics but that's just because I don't enjoy reading it as much as real books. Greek is going pretty well for me, I'm learning a lot and it's nice being able to use it when I go out to eat or talk to someone in a very limited conversation. My English class so far is good except for the fact that my teacher calls on me a lot, and last class asked me to "teach" the first half of a recent essay we had read. It was fun though, and thankfully the kids in this class aren't so anti-school that they make the classes difficult. The only real hardship I've had all week was trying to get my short story done for a workshop application so I can have my last creative writing class when I return in the Spring. Otherwise things are going pretty well for me.
Megan however, has been having a little bit of a tougher time. Her classes are good except for that one exception--Greek 201. The work keeps getting harder and Megan is really starting to feel the pressure. I'm doing the best I can to keep her cheered up and motivated but if you guys wanna slip her an e-mail every now and then to keep her going too that would help her a lot. (But don't tell her I told you so--although she'll probably read this sooner or later lol).
But as the title of this suggests we also have some big plans for this weekend...were going to Santorini!!! Our friends who went last weekend said it was the most amazing trip ever and highly reccommended it to us. So today (Wednesday) were visiting a few travel agencies and booking our trip there. Cross your fingers for my American Express card to be accepted!
 Blog ya later!
