This is one of the biggest tourist attractions in S America and its easy to see why. There´s a bus ride up through the cloud forests, where you find an ancient Inca city which was only rediscovered in 1939 (where 2 families were still living).

It is not complete, but the stone work is astounding, especially seeing as its perched on top of a really steep mountain. we got there at about 6.30am, and the whole place was covered in cloud and we couldnt see a thing. Had a tour round the place seeing how it was built etc, then climbed up the nearest mountin (it really was a climb!) and then back down to sit in the Sun and overlook the city (the clouds had cleared). Really steep sides and you can see how it was lost for so long.

We decided to walk back to the down (1.5hr walk down the mountain) really glad we didnt try and walk up it as the people we saw attempting it looked exhausted (and not even half way up). Also saw a little Andean kid sprinting down (its really steep and uneven), apparently they try race the buses down the mountain, so what took us 1.5hrs they do in less than 30 mins. We saw him again about 5 mins later with blood pouring from his nose and covering his hands and face. His sis was looking after him and I´m guessing he lost his footing. He didnt look to bothered though. The walk down also has some amazing views and you get to cross and shaky bridge over a fast flowing river which is pretty cool.

If you´re ever in Peru make sure you visit Machu Picchu.
