After a four hour flight (that took us just under half way across the country!!) we landed in Adelaide, which is known as the city of churches. We didn't see any, only the inside of a bar called the Grace Emily Hotel where we accidentally hit on an open mike night which was a good laugh. We met up with our mate Jim who we had invited to accompany us along the great ocean road, and had beers and jokes and free snags! Every brave muso got three songs but the comedy pick of the bands had to be the neo punk version of Puff the magic dragon, sung by a smily Japanese girl over uncompromising heavy guitar riff and stolid beat. It was refreshing to meet crusty but somehow stylish young Adelaide locals in a scruffy but cool pub, instead of the usual inner city sports bars.

This really was all to report from the city of Adelaide. We picked up the plush rental car (with cruise control, get in!) the next morning and set off towards Port Fairy which represents the start of the Great Ocean Road.
