We managed to get the campervan to Sydney just in time – we'd covered quite a few kms in two weeks! It was strange staying in an apartment again – it felt huge and very luxurious to have our own bathroom! We enjoyed a fantastic 4 days in Sydney before flying to Melbourne for 3 days. It was great to meet up with Oz and English friends and wander around the cities taking in the sights. Here are some highlights…

Sydney

- Driving over the harbour bridge in our campervan

- Bagging ourselves a great apartment in Potts Point at a bargain price (thank goodness for last minute.com!) – we had unexpected views of the opera house and bridge

- Eating by the water’s edge at Woolloomooloo Wharf to celebrate our engagement – white tablecloths flapping in the breeze…

- Exploring the city on foot – Botanical Gardens, Cockle Bay and Darling Harbour

- Visiting the aquarium and seeing crocodiles, sharks, turtles, huge stingrays and our favourite – dugongs!

- Catching up with Lisa over Italian food and wine in Potts Point

- People watching in Hyde Park

- Wandering along Circular Quay

- Getting a ferry to Manly beach (great views around harbour and much cheaper than taking a cruise!)

- Trying to get the perfect photo of the Sydney Opera House

- Enjoying a 'Tiger’ – beef pie topped with mash, mushy peas and gravy at Harry’s Pie Kiosk

- Stumbling across a free Christmas concert in the domain (public gardens) – there were thousands of people with candles and seeing Kathryn Jenkins sing carols definitely got us in the festive mood

- Taking the train to Bondi Beach and meeting up with Paul

Melbourne

- Staying with Mudgey in St. Kilda Beach and having a Christmas party in his flat

- Taking the tram into the city and eating lunch in Federation Square

- Meeting up with Dave in a restaurant along the Lygon Precinct

- Meeting Dave’s family for breakfast in Sandringham

- Seeing the brightly painted beach huts along Brighton Beach

- Enjoying a bbq on Mudgey’s balcony
