Where I stayed
When we arrived, the ladies gave us fresh baked scones and juice which was nice of them! Then we split into 2 groups. I was with the guys out in the wetlands doing tree and plant releasing most of the day. All (or most) of the plants we had to release were marked by stakes and green covers/protectors so they were easy to identify. The hard part was just bending over/squatting and ripping out the weeds (and avoiding wasp nests- which we saw one of).
At 12ish we went and had lunch on the ladies' deck (they had a little dog too :) ) and discussed our different educational systems, lol
I think we had lunch for like an hour and then worked again 1:30-3:30. It was more of the same really, just in different areas of the wetlands. There were a few helicopters going by overhead for a while, which were kind of annoying...disturbing the peacefulness of the area. But the lady who owns the land said there's a flying school nearby, so it happens frequently. Towards 3:00 we kind of got lazy but at 3:15 we were done and walked through a yard with chickens over to where the other two girls were weeding. The chickens were really tame and even let some of us pick them up! Soon after, we headed out. It was a nice day, and actually I'm going to be coming back here again on May 10th when we'll be doing some planting.
I didn't do too much tonight, just trying to burn my pics to a CD with no success. I did have to wash one of the bathrooms for my weekly task though, fun fun.
