From Cuenca we caught a 5 hour bus to Loja where we then caught a 9 hour bus to Piura which crossed the border into Peru!!  Easy peasy, the border crossing was pretty quiet at 4.30am and they let us in, phew!

From Piura we then caught a 4 hour bus to Mancora which was so hot and by then we were soooo tired and ready for the beach.  We found the cheapest hostel that we've stayed in so far...it was 10 soles each which is about 2 pounds a night.  We got what we paid for though as it was a bit like a shed with beds!  But we were happy because it had a cold shower.  So we got clean and headed straight for the beach for some well-deserved jugos and beaching, and later some beer on the beach.  Ooh and obviously we took lots of pictures of the sunset.  Claro!!

We stayed the night in Mancora and after some more beaching the next day, sadly started our LONG LONG journey south to Cuzco via Lima.  We set off at 6pm from Mancora on Wednesday and (with only a 2 hour break in Lima) we arrived in Cuzco at 3pm on Friday.  That is a lot of bus!!  On the second bus (which was 24 hours) we had ONE stop of TEN MINUTES in the whole journey.  We couldn't believe it!  And they showed traumatic films about being kidnapped abroad (Paris though not Peru...but even so!) and human trafficing.  We were so happy to get to Cuzco.  So HAPPY!
