Flag of Brazil  , State of Sao Paulo,
Sunday, March 10, 2013

Because of the way that I booked my flight, when I left Montevideo, I planned a stopover in Sao Paulo. It cost me 12.5K in miles but it was worth it to visit my friends there.

I had been in this city once before but didn't really get a chance to see much since it was a business trip. This time, I got to experience some cool things about the city.

Upon arrival, I met my friend and we went out in the evening. The bar we hung out at had live music. We had the luck of meeting some people in line and they turned out to be pretty friendly. Afterwards, we got sushi and it was delicious. For those who don't know, Brazil has a big population of Japanese who immigrated over the past century.

The next day we went to the Mercado Municipal (central market) where you could find the best tasting exotic fruits. I bought a fruit salad with fresh strawberries, pinneapple, watermelon and papaya. The watermelon was my favorite. I did get to try a few strange fruits such as the caqui and purple dragonfruit. I also tried these meat-filled breads, which were quite tasty as well. Following the market we went to a popular park nearby where they sold many handmade goods and artwork.

During the next few days, I slept in and took it easy. All the travel had added up and I need to catch my breath, so to speak. I met with another friend who I had worked with in Switzerland and met her baby daughter. We had dinner at her house and it was great.
