My stay in Montevideo was nothing less than blessed. Through Couchsurfing, I was able to meet a local guy from the city whose family hosted me for the two nights that I stayed there. Had I known that I was staying with them I would have stayed longer. Also, the family expressed that my visit was waaay too short. It was impossible to argue. I could only try to get them to believe that I would come back again.

The guy showed me around the city and it felt much different than Buenos Aires. It was much more accessible and less.. well, endless. I suppose that after being in London I preferred cities that allowed for getting lost but wasn't overwhelmingly huge. (As in, if I wanted to meet someone it wouldn't take an hour for each of us to get to the meeting point.)

Many of the things that I saw were historic. These included the old city gate, the market and major buildings. Probably the most memorable was mock sword-fighting with a street performer dressed as Zorro. We got burritos for lunch that were decent and then ice cream / gelato. At night, I had dinner with the family and even got to watch a football match on TV with them. The team from Montevideo, was victorious in their match. =)
