What turned out to be the three favorite things about the city happened to occur on the same day:
1. Parks
2. Street art
3. Steak

The only downside is that I was solo for most of the time. But real quick this is what I did. First I hung out at the Plaza Holanda in the neighborhood of Recoleta. I ate a packed lunch and relaxed in the sun. I watched as tons of people ran, skated, rollerbladed or biked past on a large paved path (with no vehicles!). It made me wish that I had rented a bike so that I could join.

Next, I went to Palermo where it was known for street art. I spend most of the afternoon at a book shop, bought a Macanudo comic book, cappucino and sketched. Even though I was in what could be seen as a quotidian place, it felt great. I wanted to feel like I was part of the city – not just a tourist. So slowing down helped me to savor the time.

I left the bookstore to meet my American friends for dinner. We ate at a really delicious place (that they recommended) called Las Cabras and I ordered a steak there. Wow, it was really good. Not sure if I could say that it was the best that I've ever eaten but it was close. We then visited the Post Street bar which is a place that's covered in street art. We went up to the roof where you could enjoy drinks and admire the art on the neighboring building's walls. I was surprised that a place like that didn't exist in NYC or other places. Perhaps they did and I didn't know about it. Either way, this was a special place and I was thankful that make friends took me there. All in all, I did feel like Palermo was a neighborhood that I'd enjoy living in... if the opportunity ever were to come.
