One of the main reasons why I decided to come to Chile was for my friends' wedding. So after waiting a week, the day finally arrived. I was really excited for them and had already given them their gift (as written in my first entry).

It was really hard for me to imagine what the wedding would be like but I knew it was going to be exceptional. It was in the countryside on a bright, summer, green day. Everything was impressively put together with the friends and relatives of the couple. And everything seemed professional – from the food, to decorations, furniture, and lighting. I liked that it was simple and homemade, yet elegant.

Besides being in Spanish, the ceremony and reception were similar to what I've experienced in the US but much less formal. While the couple was at the altar, people stood around them in the backyard. Later during reception, the food was brought out to everyone and drinks were served from the bar. It was like a buffet where people could take the food as they pleased. =) The food was delicious and started out with various hor dourves. Then came the ceviche, which people absolutely loved. (I ate it so quickly that I didn't remember to take a photo of it.) Later, the BBQ meat came, which was very good. Finally, the desserts and wedding cake were served. It would be hard to communicate how nice it all was so you'll just have to imagine it.

I did get a few questions about being from Asia and whether English or Spanish was easier for me, haha. The most fun part though was probably on the dance floor. There was a mix of traditional and contemporary Latin music and hip-hop/pop/dance music too. We danced into the late night and after hours... way beyond our feet aching. Guess it should be said that Chileans know how to enjoy themselves. A few people had the great of idea of creating a giant Twister board on the floor and which was highly entertaining too.

All in all, it was a crazy fun time and an especially memorable day. Everyone was exhausted but really happy to be a part of the special occasion. Congrats, friends!
