I left Avignon last Wednesday (I think...the days are increasingly blurring) and took some long and beautiful trains to Italy. Spent two nights in Santa Margherita, planning to walk and so on, but it rained. However, a nice American couple bought me dinner! Two nights in Padova which was uneventful. This is all slightly eclipsed by the fact that a guy in the year ahead of me at Alleyns (David Ronayne) just walked into the internet cafe at the hostel I'm staying at. It's a campsite, and I have a little cabin which tonight is empty except for me. I've met some fun people, so its been good fun so far. Today I wandered around Venice, got lost a lot, and went to St Marks Square and church, and to the Palace of the Doge or something like that. They have these prisons where Casanova was imprisoned for a while, and very ornate rooms. Venice is good fun and very pretty, but extremely easy to get lost in! I have a few days here so I can take things slowly, and have some time to chill out and lie by the pool.
