Damn, this desert is hot. [I'm not entirely sure that Ive got the right spelling - help someone?] I'm supposedly in some kind of oasis, but refreshing it is not. Scorching. Anyway, enough about the weather....

I arrived at 8 [I guess 9, really, as there's some weird time change] and scammed a ride into town with a local. The driver gave me a nice tour of the hurricaine ravaged areas of the town, and then dropped me off in the centre square. I was expecting....more. Again, I'd like to thank the LP for making this place seem much more than it is. However, after spending the day here, I quite enjoy it. Everyone is SOOO nice. And I do mean everyone, as I've met 90% of the towns inhabitants, and I'm not kidding. 2000 my ass.

I saw the rock paintings [cool] and the church that LP raves so much about - it's more creepy than anything, but I find all churches creepy. This one more so. Then...I walked through the town. Five minutes later, I arrived back at my hotel. Not kidding. So I went and people watched in the square and introduced myself to everyone. 'Cause thats how we roll down here. Then I went back to my hotel, read for a while in the breeze of the fan, then came to the internet cafe. It wasn't open at first. When I inquired as to its opening time, the response I got was "the afternoon....sometime" with a laugh.

But seriously, this town is great. And it'll be even better in the rearview mirror tomorrow. I'm being overly harsh, but I think we all know that I'm not a small town girl, and it being in Mexico doesn't make it okay. Although infinitely more amusing trying to explain why I'm here. Apparently the locals can't figure it out either.

So, recommendations: If you like rock paintings, take the 8 am bus in, and the 6 pm bus out. There is NOTHING else to do here. If you like small towns and meeting the locals and eating mediocre food, come here. The people are truly fantastic. The food is truly mediocre.

Much love to all friends and family - I miss you guys terribly, and I know we could all have a great time here!
