Today is Christmas eve, so we're having the big turkey dinner. I know what you're thinking: it's August. Well, since I'm not going to be home this year for Christmas, we decided to have the meal and presents this weekend, and also as a fare-well to me. I'm not sure that it's a great idea to break my meat and alcohol fast in one evening with a big, massive family dinner, but that's what's going to happen.
Tammy and I amused ourselves this afternoon trying to fit me into a suitcase. We were surprisingly successful! Guess those yoga classes are paying off....in some weird way.
Tina and Barrett arrived for dinner at 5:15 after spending the day wandering through Kingston. Barrett, according to most of our friends, is the male version of me. Amusingly enough, within about five minutes of his arrival, he and Jenn started a very heated argument, complete with yelling! Guess even the family dynamic applies to Barrett's and my similarity. hehe.
They toned it down after a while, although Tina, in all efforts to divert the conversation, asked Tammy what she's studying. I think Tina was a little dismayed to hear "political science and development", as that was what the yelling was about. Good try though!
We had one of the more successful family dinners in family history - no one cried! Well done us! We have Tina and Barrett to thank for that, I think.
My evening was partially sucky though as I had a massive allergy attack and had to drug myself to new heights - during the first part of dinner I was damn well out of it. I guess the alcohol didn't help either. hehe.
The evening ended with us at the Toucan. Sure was a good Christmas eve!
