Fireworks!
Food and Fun
This week we have been dog sitting for a couple that we met here in Irving. They have a maltese as well, only she is only 4 months old and 2.7 pounds. Wrigley is obsessed with her and I definitely think we'll have to get a second dog soon :)
Since I'm a big fan of the 4th, we went to three different nights of fire works. We usually like to take a trip (last year we went to San Diego for the fourth), but since Dallas is still a "new" area for us, we stayed around here to check it out.
The first night, we went to Friso for Frisco Freedom Fest. Frisco was a bit smaller of a venue, but since there wasn't a lot happening on the 2nd anyway, we thought we'd check it out. Once we got their, we had some food from an area they had called "Taste of Frisco." They had a Mexican Restaurant there called Poscados. We got beef and cheese nachos and a beef and cheese burrito. It was very good. After you buy food, you got to spin a prize wheel. He asked if we had been to their restaurant before, and since we hadn't, he helped our spin out a little to land on the "big prize." They gave us a coupon for a free appetizer, $10 GC, and a Free dessert. Very nice of them, we when we're in that area, we'll have to check it out! Then we stopped at a places that had won the award for "most unique dish." This was a Mac-N-BBQ sandwich. It basically had cheese, mac and cheese, and BBQ brisket on Texas toast. I have to say, it was pretty darn good as well. From there, we couldn't leave the food area without having a bit of dessert, so we had some chocolate dipped cheesecake. They also had live music going on all night. Across the street was the Pizza Hut Park, where the MLS matches take place. The FC Dallas was playing the Columbus Crew. We didn't go this time, but I think it'd be neat to check out in the future. After that, there was an alley that had all sort of shops. They had a store that had just about every flavor popcorn you could ever want. They also had a lot of fudge, including watermelon fudge. Also in that area, they had a cupcake shop. As soon as you walked in, it smelled delicious. I wish we would have found this area before having the cheesecake. We were too full to get any, but they also looked awesome. They had about 20 different flavors of cupcakes, including carrot cake cupcake, red velvet cupcake, and Oreo Cupcake. We had a bit of time before the fireworks were going to start, so we stopped in at a restaurant that had a pianist playing and played a bit of Monopoly deal and then headed to watch the show. Fireworks started around 10 and lasted about 25 minutes. They were nice. From there we headed home to be prepared for round two.

The next place we went to was Kaboom Town. This was in Addison Circle Park, in Addison. Upon arriving, we had a gift certificate to a restaurant nearby that was having a patio party, so we got a table there, and ate some dinner outside. They had a special menu for the 3rd, and we had some Baby Back Ribs, potato salad, and also baked beans. About as festive as it gets. It was starting to get very busy around that area, so since we had the perfect seat outside, we decided to stay put. Before the fireworks, they had two different air shows. The first one was Addison Airport Air Show featuring Cavanaugh Historic Warbird Fly Over, Jan Collmer, Matt Youkin & Mike Galloway and the second was Matt Younkin's "Magic by Moonlight." They were both pretty neat. Then it was firework time. They are known for being one of the top places to watch fireworks in the country by the American Pyrotechnics Association, USA Today, Travel and Leisure, and the Wall Street Journal. They definitely lived up to the expectations. It was an awesome show. It was about 30-35 minutes long, it was a constant, steady stream of fireworks. The grande finally was one of the longest I have seen. It was great! After, the sidewalks and traffic was horrible. So we decided to hang out in the area a bit. The place we were at had kareoke going on. All the people that do karekoe in Dallas are really good. Also, All of the restaurants around the area had their patios fenced in and had a lot of DJs and outside parties, so we explored a bit over there.

The last night we went and checked out Fair Park Fourth. This is the City of Dallas' official independence day celebration. They had a band singing, a Dallas Wind symphony patriotic concert, "dancing water"- which was like fountains to music like the Belagio, and then of course, the fire works. We brought the dogs with us this time, so we only listed to a few concerts and then headed back to the car to wait for the fire works. The big thing for food at the festival is corn dogs. They say that this is where the corn dog was invented. They sell foot long corn dogs everywhere. Overall, it was a nice wrap up to our three nights of fire works.

Adam's been spending a lot of time parparing powerpoints and training sessions for our team meeting. Everyone on our work regional team is coming over to Dallas for a training conference. They're either coming in on this Tuesday or Wednesday. Our meeting will be Wednesday-Friday and then I'm off to WI for Laura's bachlorette party on Saturday!! Her weddings getting closer and closer!!! Getting super excited. I also included a couple pictures from Adams trip home, he got to see Marley around her birthday time and also see Amber and Josh's new baby Ellie. He got to visit with a few friends and family but other than that the weekend was cut short for him when he had to go to Madison to help train.
Lots of pictures and videos below if you're bored! Hope you had a great weekend and hope to see you in a week or so. Happy 4th of July and thanks to all the soliders and all those that make freedom and safety possible. What a wonder reason to celebrate!
