So yesterday we spent a bunch of time in Portland, OR. I was able to visit Marylhurst University and see whether or not i would be interested in going to grad school there. Then we went to downtown Portland and ate some crazy donuts. It was at the Voodoo Doughnut shop. Mmm! We also got a chance to play at the fountain by the firehouse, jumping on each shoot of water from the ground so that the remaining shoots of water would jet high into the sky. Only later did we realize that the Municipal Sewage Pumping plant was also nearby. Hmmm, suddenly playing in the water was no longer as appealing! We gathered our stuff and ventured back to Shelby taking pics along the way.
Piling into the confines of Aub's car, we ventured north towards Seattle. With mountain on one side and valley on the other, the road suddenly reminded my of a dream i had blogged a long time before with the road being a river and the valley being the industrious view of the Seattle cityscape! Views of Sky scrapers and the space needle met our attention as we meandered off the freeway and on to find Aubrey's friend Jill's place. Without refering to her JPS which was not working, Aubrey found it! Wile grabbing a bite to eat with Jill, we reflected on the drive. Throughout our drive on the five, we were met with buckets of rain. While driving in the fast lane, a car ahead suddenly stepped on their breaks and came to what appeared to be a halt. In this instance Aubrey's car Shelby gushed into a mass of water covering our view of the car ahead and anything else surrounding us. As the water finished dispersing, it revealed to us that the car had infact continued driving and was now at a safe distance ahead! Phew!
At Jill's place, i reorganized my bags so that what i'd need for the next six days was in the small bag and everything else was in the larger bag in which I'd leave at Jill's till our return. This left the car with more space for when we camp. We said our goodbye's and climbed into Shelby towards Bellingham, WA where i am now typing this with music by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros playing in the background; "Our home is our home, home is wherever I'm with you." They are playing at Sasquatch Music Festival that we are going to this weekend! 95 bands in 3 days! So excited... Mmm, i smell pancakes! Breakfast must be ready. :)
