Bud and I took turns driving to Marfa, stopping along the way as we liked -- very leisurely and casual. Lots of wildflowers in bloom along the highway. We stopped and took a tour at the Caverns of Sonora, which was great. They are living caverns and you see the formations up close and personal.

We detoured to go to Balmorhea, which we heard had a great natural springs pool also. Very beautiful, also a CCC project from the 50s, just like Barton Springs. Clear, clear water, in some places 25 feet deep. And in the middle of nowhere!
