From Duluth we continued north to Gooseberry Falls State Park. The falls are very easy to get to and you can climb all over them. Bring your suit if you want to get wet. From Gooseberry Falls we went to Split Rock Lighthouse. It is one of the more picturesque lighthouses you'll ever see. Too bad it was a bit overcast by then. The hike to the shoreline was pleasant enough as the path is lined with birch trees. The best pictures are from the shoreline. From Split Rock we head to our hotel in Grand Marais, MN. Grand Marais is a pleasant small town with a nice waterfront. Our hotel was right on the water. We were on the 2nd floor and slept with our balcony door open a little so we could hear the water as we went to sleep.
