Hi there fans and friends, first of all a very happy new year. I hope your year will be filled with travels to interesting places. As I write this, we are packing our suitcases again off on part 2 of our trip. We leave on the 11:05 Jetstar flight from Hong Kong to Singapore tomorrow. From there we will start to explore south east Asia. All we know at this point is that we will go to Singapore for a couple of days, and then move down (or up, depending on how you hold your map) to KL. We will make a stop at Malacca for a couple of days to inhale the atmosphere there. We have the desire to visit Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, but we will see when and where we go. We learned yesterday that we both need some kind of visa for Vietnam, so we are not sure if we will make it to there.
So for now we try to cram our necessities in two Samsonites, not exceeding 20KG each, as JetStar has strict restrictions on luggage weight.
The last weeks we roamed around the neighborhoods of Hong Kong, Our new years eve we spent zipping a Prosecco on the extremely busy streets of Tsim Sha Tsui. We managed to find a table at an English pub and watched the hordes of people move, first towards the harbor city, as they were moving towards a better view of the fireworks to come. At one point the hordes moved in the opposite direction, the police had probably closed harbor city down as it was full. We counted down 2010 with a million strangers, and as the year passed bye we made our way back to our shoebox. It was a great year for us, and there are many more great years ahead.
We will try to keep you up to date from the Cities and Jungles of South East Asia as we leave on part 2 of our big trip.
