So since we arrived really late the first night we didn't get that much time to explore the city.  Not that there is much to see in Williston.  I think the bulk of the city is 1 bar, a grocery store, one motel [with an 'm'], a mcdonalds, a subway, a few pizza places, and a liquor store.  Yes, this is definition of middle of the middle of nowhere.

The first morning, and as was found for subsequent mornings, we went to the diner at the motel for breakfast to get a $3 special of hash browns, bacon, eggs, and toast.   There is something to be said about cheap food that makes it all better that you don't even know where the heck you are.  And this was good.

After breakfast we went to the first dive site, Ginnie Springs, which is known primarily for its cave and cavern diving.  Unfortunately since we were getting certified we could not explore these very much.  This site was chosen because of the clearness of the water and ease of being able to administer the exam.

We had two dives for the day, and most of the time was spent getting reacquainted with the water and doing the skills.  Some of these were regulator retrieval where you threw away your regulator and put it back in your mouth, mask purging [the bane of my existence], and buddy assist breathing.  We all passed all of these without a hitch and got to continue on.  Most people never fail, anyway, but it is just a formality to get your cert card.

After a long day of diving and a cookout we went back to our motel to do the only two things there were to do in Williston aside from diving, eat Subway, and drink.  I'd say it was a pretty good way to end the night with some new friends.
