Where I stayed
It's like a postcard here: blocky, stark white houses with vibrant blue windows against an even blue-er sky. Gorgeous - and practically empty of tourists. Mom and I wander through the labyrinthine, cobblestoned streets of the old town that will throng with visitors in a few months. But right now, the only people walking the streets are school kids bundled up against the brisk wind, old, bent-over women all in black, fishermen mending their nets, and the two of us.
Our first day here was sunny and warm, but the last two have been cool and VERY windy. The wind howls through the shutters of our little appartment, making the power lines sing outside. This only adds to the sense of mystique and lovely isolation out here. As Mom and I have both been fighting off a nasty cold, this has been the perfect place to rest and recover from a very busy week.
