 Ko Phi Phi Don and Ko Phi Phi Le are two islands famous for their beauty; the former is packed with bronzed tourists and surly Thais while the latter, part of a national park, has no buildings save for a snack bar on a long stretch of powdery white sand.  This is the famous beach from the movie The Beach with Leonardo Dicaprio, and would have been charming were it not for the 400 other tourists sharing the moment.  I felt like I was at the West Edmonton Mall wave pool. 
I enjoyed the few days we spent on Phi Phi Don, as touristy as it was.  Eric and I did a half-day snorkeling trip around the two islands yesterday.  We saw tons of beautiful fish, interesting corals and, luckily, no sharks. 
It was the scenery that captivated my attention, though.  The cliffs of Phi Phi Le towered above us and we craned our necks and squinted our eyes into the bright blue sky to see to the tops.  We were taken into a beautiful maze of inlets bordered by walls of jungle and rock and we swam in the calm turquoise water.  What a way to spend the morning!
The rain still comes predictably late in the afternoon.  Yesterday evening, Eric and I donned our (very attractive) rain gear before dashing out into the deluge to hunt up some supper.  We don't get rain like that in Alberta...  It was crazy!  By the time we were finished eating, we had to wade our way home.  The water was mid-shin in some places. 
All part of the adventure!
Next stop is Krabi, where we'll spend one night before heading up to Bangkok again.  I've heard about a little bakery in Krabi Town that makes GF bread.... I'm ridiculously excited about it...
