What I did
Surfing and Scooteroo
Emma and I stayed in a caravan park which was filled with older Australians. It wasn't a particularly great place to stay but it was right on the beach so that was something!
We stayed for two nights (in our tent again) and were really just here to do the famous Scooteroo tour. EVERYONE you meet down the east coast raves about Scooteroo so I was excited.
Scooteroo is basically a motorbike/scooter trip around Agnes Water and The Town of 1770. (On a side note...I thought naming a town 'The Town of 1770' was a bit bizarre. It's because Captain Cook landed there in 1770. If I got to name a town, I'd go for something a bit more extravagant than the year I found it, but maybe that's just me!). We got biker jackets, fake tattoos and got to choose our own bike. We drove around 60km in convoy on the bikes and it really was so much fun! I know why people rave about it so much. All you do is ride the motorbike/scooter for about 3 hours but it's great! I can't explain it.
We also did a 3 hour surfing lesson while we were in Agnes Water. As I said to a few people: 'I think there's more chance of me seeing a singing kangaroo while in Australia than being able to stand upright on a surf board.' I wasn't good. It was incredibly windy on the day we did it and the waves were MASSIVE. Even getting a bit out to sea to get on the board was really hard. I got on one wave, but I was only on my knees haha. I also got thrown off numerous times, ingested gallons of saltwater and I scraped the skin off one of my knees on a big rock. I'm going to try surfing again but I'm going to do it on a calm day with smaller waves!
