Hey all!  Well I've already typed this out once!  And the Internet connection at the net cafe in Phi Phi completely went down so I lost all of what I wrote!  I saved it onto a word document to try the next day on the same computer but they were still broke and I had to leave for Krabi.  Oh well!!  Lol.

Well it's not long before I have to mosey on down to Malaysia!  I have about 12 days to get to Singapore, so I think I'm spending another 5 days or so in this neck of the woods and then shall work me way down!

I must say I am looking incredibly brown at this present moment!  After caining it on the beach with my Canadian friend Natasha the other day- it seems to have worked a treat!

Well where do I start today!  I didn't write an awful lot on Phuket on my last blog so think I might fill ya in a little.  Phuket I much preferred to Ko Samui.  It just had a nicer cleaner feel to it.  Even though it was still majorly touristy-fied, as you can imagine, its setting just seemed a lot more appealing.  The sidewalks along the beach front were really pretty with lots of trees and wide pavements, and there were loads of different type of restaurants facing the ocean.  Patong Beach, which was where I was, is the most popular of them all and at night it turns into one big slapper prossie show.  I didn't like that so much!  Thai girls everywhere ready to charge the western men from 1000-2000bht for the night.  Any girl as well!  They don't have to be girls working in bars, just normal girls walking around with their friends- but you can tell them a mile off.  I'd say the only decent girlies would be those that work in respectable restuarants and shops.  But I suppose it's their way of life and their way of living.

Have I ever told you that you see the strangest things in the beauty shops?  I learnt something a long time ago here about their image of their own skin.  I went into 7-eleven yesterday and was just looking for some soothing moisuriser and every single bottle said, whitening this...whitening that.  Even the same as our produces as Nivea and Vaseline.  So next to the cocunut burning oil for tourists you have whitening cream for the locals!  Tis quite funny.  The thing is here, the whiter your skin the better off you are, it shoes you have had a better lifestyle and work in a respectable employment.  The darker your skin, shows how less off you are/have been.  I.e. working out on the corn/rice fields all you life, selling bric a brac on the beach to earn pittence.  That is why a lot of girls/women walk around and ride scooters holding umbrellas when it is blazing hot sun.  They think we're all mad lying out and frying in the sun, they think it quite strange actually!  They only know the norm from the norm and they class themselves as normal.

Another Thai thingy for ya, whilst I am being reminded by an oldish Thai man sitting 2 steps away from me eating something weird and wonderful.... you know how horrible boys in England snort through their noses and hock back snotty stuff in their throat and spit it out?  Considered quite normal on a football pitch I guess... well both Thai men and woman (normally of the older variety) fully snort, hock and spit the most revolting shit in the most public places.  Like in a restaurant for example, on the pavement, road, oh and on boats and I guess they would do it in their own homes.  But you can't look at them like they are the grosest thing ever, because it is their culture and they don't see anything wrong with it.  And it certainly isn't classed as rude.  You, the traveller/tourist, have to just ignore it and try not to heave when someone does it close by you.......... like I just nearly did!!

So anyways!  This seems like it might be a long blog, coz I have a lot to say!  Hope ya don't mind!!

Phi Phi!!  I was reeeallllllllly looking forward to Phi Phi, and I just knew I would love it.  And so I did, and can't wait to go back in the next few days.  And so I shall explain why.  I met a girlie from Uttoxeter way on the ferry over, she's called Lisa, along with some others in her group from Canada and America!  She already knew people staying at a cheapish place on the island so I asked if I could tag along because the cheaper the better!  I ended up sharing a room with Lisa and Paige, we infact had one double bed between 3 of us (yes double, not a king size!), on the 2nd night we topped and tailed which proved to be quite funny.  During my stay with those guys had to be my most favourite part of the trip so far, along with my trip to Laos.  It was amazing.......... we watched fireshows on the beach and then danced in the sand afterwards!  We'd move onto a different bar about 100yrds further down the beach, where we danced shit loads more!  They played Jet, "are ya gonna be my girl" and it made me think of dance pants!  And then me and Lisa were trying to get the Bob Marley looking DJ to play Artic Monkeys "Bet you look good on the dance floor", but we ended up getting another one!  But still it was a really fun night and sooooooo many people were drunk.  Paige was really drunk!  And by the end of the 3 day stay with the girlies I felt like Paige's big sister!  She was so funny.  But considering it was such a tiny island there was always something going on in a bar, and at least one of them was always rammed.  Very very hot mind when your dancing.  Too hot!!  We only went out once properly, which was the first night- then we chilled alot on other nights.

Paige, David and Lisa left for Krabi about 3 days before me, but I wanted to stay on Phi Phi because I wanted to do my scuba diving.  Ha!  Funny how that turned out!  That being the reason that I have to go back to Phi Phi.  I went to a diving shop and started to fill out all the forms, and there came the health and safety questions.  Are you pregnant, blah blah blah.  Then there was the question do you suffer from blackouts/fainting frequently or occasionally?  Well, do you answer truthfully or not?  Of course you do, so there lies my problem that I have to go back to Phuket to get checked over by a doctor to get given the all clear before I can do it.  Fair enough!  At least you know the company you're doing it with is cosha.  They're all part of the same thing anyway.  The dude told me that okay, if they did it and nothing happened and he certified me, all my details go into the Padi system, then I go to do diving in Oz and something does happen, then it's on my instructors shoulders in Thailand for certifing me without a doctors all clear.  If ya get me!  I wanna do it, and I wanna do it in Oz so it's gonna be cheaper to get it all over with in Thailand.  I last had a blackout in June this year, time before that was 12 months before-ish I reckon when I was in topshop, and I clearly remember a time at a bus stop when I was 17 and I was on my own.  I know I'll be okay when they do some tests, but the diving people won't accept me without seeing a doctor first.  So that's that for ya then!

So I'm in Krabi at the mo, Lisa's coming back here tomorrow and we'll travel together to Phuket.  Coz she's going back there anyway.  Then I'll go to Phi Phi for a couple of days, do my diving and then work my way darn sarf!

Another reason I loved Phi Phi was because there were no roads!  And no form of transport except pushbikes!  No roads means no one shouting taxi taxi in your face!  And no tailor shops!  Woohoooo!  And best of all, practically no prostitutes.  All the bars were there for people to just dance and have a good time with each other, not soley for Thai girls to make a mint off western men.  It was nice just for the surroundings to be normal for a change.

So Krabi Krabi Krabi!  No one really likes it that much, I don't think it's that wonderful either.  But yesterday I saw something so awful!!  At the moment for a couple of weeks it's chinese vegetarian festival, obviously basically they don't eat meat during this time.  They have the fesitvals in Phuket and Krabi.  So yesterday I arrived to see loads of people dressed in yellow and white marching up the street, ooooh I thought!  There's a paradey thing going on!  I walk further into town and I see more.  The police have cornered off the roads like would at home for marathons.  Then I see red!  And knives as big as your arm being waved in the air.  I had already read somewhere that they stuck sticks through their cheeks, I knew this already.  But I didn't know they sliced their bodies up!  I thought I'd have nightmares last night, luckily I didn't.  It was normally men that were doing it, but they were slicing at their tongues with these massive implements, so much so that thick stringy blood was hanging from their bottom lips.  Ewwwghghghhhhh.. I feel sick thinking about it.  Their chests were covered in lines of blood, then they would throw the knife, or whatever they had, over their heads so they'd blooden their backs too.  What I found strange was it was as if they were possessed (well I guess they had to be to be able to do that!), but their heads were swinging from side to side and their eyes were massive and white like they were the devil.  Anyway!  I tried to take some pics, without throwing up, zoom in and see what ya think!!!!!!!!!!!

So I guess that's it for now!  I have a pool in my hotel hear so think I might take a swim this afternoon!

Loves to everyone as normal!!!

Calls from UK
Hi Jeni,

Surfed in reading your story, I have been to alot of the places already you mention, and now staying Thailand I understand the thoughts of the UK girlies.

Now to call from UK tell your friends to look at www.niftylist.co.uk/calls To a mobile is 1p/BT or 2p/talktalk.

When you go to Malaysia always get the metered taxis, they will tell you no meter it is cheap for taxis by meter.

Singapore is expensive, cheap if you eat mall restuarants, things to do is go on a boat from boat quay, sentosa is overrated but going up in the cable car ride is good, there is a reverse budggy jump at Clark Quay, looking forward to hearing about the Oz thingy since we are plannig that trip in January.
