Well we made it! We woke up in Avebury this morning and drove to Gatwick to return our car and catch our flight back to Montreal. The drive was uneventful just as we hoped. We got to the airport in plenty of time and spent our last few p's on some m&m peanuts. We got on our plane at 1:30pm took off at 2:10 pm as scheduled and landed 6h and 59 mins later in Montreal.
Julia, Brett and Claudia were at the airport waiting for us! It was so exciting to be met by friends! We went back to Claudia's for dinner and then headed off for the last 2 hours of our journey. I talked to Julia, the kids watched a video and Chris faded in and out of our conversation.
We arrived in Ottawa at about 9:30 after being awake for about 21 hours and found all was well at home. The place looks great and the cats were quickly found and, to Sigourney and Pelly's delight they really seemed to remember us!
We had a last visit with Julia and Brett and settled down for a bit of a read of Lord of the Rings (Book II) with Misty drooling away (as usual) sitting on my chest). We all slept until at least 6:00 am - not bad considering the time change.
We spent today getting groceries, weeding the garden, extracting tadpoles from the pool (don't worry they were released into the river) and just generally rediscovering the house and our things.
We had several visitors including Lauren and Lucas for dinner and now that the kitchen is clean it is time for me to hit the shower and go to bed. I am very much looking forward to a shower in my own bathroom were I know what the temperature and water pressure will be and I don't have to worry about water splashing all over the room!!
Nothing beats travelling the world to make one appriciate ones home!
Until our next adventure...
Cheers!
