Received a phone call from Ryan at MIDNIGHT. Turns out that is the only time you can get through the phone lines-wonderful TeleCel service. (The time of day doesn't really matter though; I can always find time to take a nap later. It's always great to get phone calls.) I was so happy to hear from someone in the USA; at times I really wish I was back at home, but talking to him re-assured me that I'm not missing much. Things are still the same; it's just that I miss the people-and running water, washing machines, microwaves, toasters....

Went to the coiffeuse and got my hair de-tressed (the fake plastic hair removed). The braided my real hair afterwards, because it's easier to take care of when it's braided.

Ate rice and beans with Meredith for lunch; it tasted like fish. Yuck.

After lunch, we started painting her house. There was a HUGE downpour that lasted about an hour. We thought the electricity had gone out, as the light had turned off. So, we took a break from painting for about an hour or two. I'm not sure if the power really went out, because we found later a switch near the bulb that may have been bumped when we were painting around it...when we flipped that switch, the power came "back on". Grrr...the time we wasted and could have been painting.
