ATM INSURANCE – BUQUEBUS FERRY – PUERTO MADERO –SUNNY – 28.10.09
My brother Lou, Lynn and I went to Puerto Madero, the harbor, to book our 3 hour ferry trip with Buquebus MVDO Eladia Isabel to Uruguay for the next day, Thursday 29th October, the month seems to be flying by. On the way to the dock, we saw the 'Stad Amsterdam' sailing ship which was open for viewing. The Dutch crew spoke good English and were very forthcoming about their trip. They are retracing the steps of Charles Darwin in a year long voyage and making a documentary about it.
We secured our tickets to Uruguay and had a hot lunch in the cafeteria. The dock area was beautiful and clean, as most of Buenos Aires seems to be. The people are also immaculately dressed, trim and well groomed. Des had been sourcing a repair to the camera mount for the video camera to be mounted on his bike windscreen. It broke just before we left Adelaide.
In the afternoon Des, Lou and Lynn went to Dakar Motors which is a world renowned place for globe-trotting motorbike riders, where they can sleep, have repairs done to their motorbikes and meet fellow travelers. Des and Lou caught up with Greg from Tasmania and a couple from Canada who are traveling around the world and who have been traveling for two years. They were all very nice folk who shared information about places to visit and places to stay away from.
Because it took so long at Dakar Motors, it was a rush to get to Pablo’s office at ATM insurance for the final insurance documents for traveling through Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia. The staff at ATM Insurance could not have been more helpful and professional. The office manager gave us each a promotional hat, which prompted the obligatory photograph. We say a big THANK YOU to Pablo and ATM Insurance.
