Another long ride into town for the open-air bus tour. The tour bus only had one level, and it was in the sun for the full 3 hour trip. Our guide Ildikon (Hildegard in German) Kiss showed us two marvelous stop offs at St Stephen's Basilica. Stephen was Hungary's first king and the Basilica was named after him; and The Hill of Gellert which looks over all of Buda and Pest, the two sides of the river. The view was magnificent.
The architecture in Budapest is sensational, the reliefs on the buildings and statuary breathtaking.
A huge beer for the boys and an iced coffee for Lynn and I and it was time to move on to the next touristie thing. Lou talked us into doing the underground trip to the old city of Buda. The tiles on the walls of the underground were very pretty and old fashioned, but we were too exhausted to go far from the underground.
