Honesfoss for shopping (ouch!) Gol, Hol and Skei all lovely. The drive through the mountains is indescribable. We would not have chosen Norway as a holiday destination but because we wanted to see our Rotary Exchange Student Sara in Denmark, we thought we might as well do all of Scandinavia. Well, that was a good decision. We will be taking back many, many fond memories of this area. It has so much going for it in the way of beauty. I'm sure the winter season must be just as breath taking. We passed through lots of tunnels big and small but the longest was 24.5 Kilometers in length. We stopped at the middle to take some photos (I'm not sure if that's permitted) but we knew we may not see this part of the world again as it's so far from home. The waterfalls over the roads were surprising. All the road works have to cater for the big melt. Some of the tunnels have sheep and goats in them looking for a cool spot to rest. (There are warning signs!) The sheep have big, thick, red collars with bells.

The sun was shining all day so we stopped at a fjord for a swim in the cool water, invigorating, and gave us all a big lift. We weren't and hour up the road when we stopped to play in the snow. It's coming towards the end now, being summer, but some of it will never melt. It was really funny watching Lou and Lynn sliding down the slopes in their jeans.

Sweet strawberries are sold from the side of the road in big punnets, we bought 3!
