Cool Rides in New Orleans
When we got back from the swamp, we wanted to walk around the Quarter a bit more and Matt wanted to get his bike fixed. The pedal has been fussy since last summer, but lately has been falling right off every couple of kilometres, if not more often, not a good thing as he's hoping to get in some mountain biking on the Western leg of the trip.
Michael`s Bicycles and Bikes around Town
We found Michael’s Bicycle on the Eastern edge of the Quarter, a great little shop with really friendly staff and the shop dog, a lovely golden retriever, roaming around waiting to be petted. Matt’s bike was fixed in no time and he was ready to go.
I snapped some shots inside the bike shop and around town for all the bike enthusiasts to check out. While we saw of few of the spindly, road bike fixies with bull horn handle bars so popular in the Plateau, but the old-school cruiser Schwinns are really what’s all the rage here. Everyone has them – some look like they’re decades old authentics, some are sparkling new in a rainbow of colours with hipster names to match. There were some great personalized rides around town – check out the pics.
