Back in Dangriga I had my first birthday away from home =( Was a nice day though - wagged hospital and mucked around all day went shopping, watched tv, ate yum stuff and spoke to people back home which was great. Then a group of us went out for dinner and drinkies at the resort, fun fun.

Next day there was massive scandal at the hospital!! (Not from our night out though.) All the doctors trained in Cuba are sent somewhere like Belize for two years to work, but their family has to stay in Cuba to discourage them from doing a runner to the US cos of their crazy government and all back home. But anyway one of the Cuban doctors at our hospital ran away with the male scrub nurse who apparently is his boyfriend! They both just didn't turn up to work that day and when someone went to their house it was completely empty. Scandalous as, but a bit of an upset for the hospital cos now they're even more short-staffed.

On our last day in Dangriga we went to a barbeque with Dr Espat's friends at a flash house on top of a hill on an orange farm. Was the night of the lunar eclipse so a good place to watch that from. Had the meanest feast ever and a delicious dessert and plenty of drinkies. The place was awesome had a big party room with games tables and table tennis and karaoke etc. These people were really not good singers at karaoke so we weren't afraid to join in too... did an awesome rendition of Mr Bombastic. Then at some stage we all launched into performing our national anthems - heard the Belizean, English, Aussie and Kiwi ones and we did an attempt at the haka. Rather entertaining. Dr Espat got really drunk and started hoochy-dancing all over the place especially with Jono. Then we made a night-time mission to the hospital and she signed off our elective assessment forms that she'd forgotten to do earlier, heheheh.
By the time we got home we had two hours left to get some sleepies before we began our bus mission to Cancun!!!

Karaoke...
love it! Nothing beats karaoke, it's like, the international language of party-times!
