What I did
Changi Village

Vivvy's birthday today! Got off to a slow start this morning - no swim, breakfast; Tolido's for our ice-blends then a walk in the opposite direction to our usual walk towards Lavender MRT station. Stopped at a hawkers market for food on the way. Caught the train to Tanah Merah then a #2 bus to Changi Village. At Changi we had lunch at the hawkers market, I had the best bowl of laksa ever for $2 and a tall glass of lime for a $1. The only two flies in Singapore joined us briefly before continuing their own tour around Changi.
Next time I come to Singa I'll do the on-and-off the bus thing, to look at all the old buildings around the Changi area.

After a wander around the waterfront and the village we began our wait for the return bus and realised that the #2 actually goes all the way to the bus stop just outside our hotel!

A massive rain storm happened when we were on the bus, but it didn't make the trip any less interesting. Man, it poured! We got back around 3-4, lazed around for a few hours then got ready to go downstairs for tea in our own dining room before heading to Raffles for a birthday Sling in the Long Bar. In our attempts to get off at the right station for Raffles we walked around the business district a bit before catching a taxi - we were way off the mark! Viv was slightly underwhelmed by the Long Bar but we both loved wandering through the grounds having a bit of an explore.

The rest of the evening, night and a small portion of the morning was spent at The Crazy Elephant on Clarke Quay dancing to masterful and unusual covers by the Blues Machine. Unusual, in that what they played was not your usual, everyday popular cover songs.

Interesting bits: talking with the taxi driver about drink-driving laws; driving through the business district; Clarke Quay.
