Breakfast this morning consisted of the usual cereal, toast, porridge, fruit and yoghurt, with the addition of self-made waffles. I had a light brekky, and pinched an apple and yoghurt for lunch. Shell spent some time on the pc sorting photos and I printed out a copy of my driver's license for Dollar.

I had got up this morning thinking I'd be driving today, but I couldn't be added at St Louis; the closest place that is possible is Tulsa. Not happy. Can't drive on a road trip. Can't contact my family. Can't buy what I want, when I want. I have to request money from someone, and I haven't had to do that in a decade and rarely even when I was married. I feel violated, and stupid that I allowed this to happen. Probably if I'd just had my old backpack with me it wouldn't have looked worth stealing, but noooooo...I had to go and buy an attractive red leather bag. Okay, enough whining....it is what it is.

Leaving our hotel we headed back into St Louis to visit the Gateway Arch - it's gorgeous and the ride to the top was fun, in our funny little pod. At the top, on one side you're looking across the Mississippi at Illinois, and on the other, St Louis and Missouri. While waiting for our trip we checked out the Museum of Westward Expansion, the Museum Shop and the Souvenir shop.

I had hoped to spend more time in St Louis for sightseeing and music but we need to be at the Grand Canyon by the 1st so must push on. After the arch we stopped to get coffee and use WiFi, to research the wolf sanctuary nearby at Eureka (!) - unfortunately it was closed today.

On, westward!

The road through Missouri is lovely as we drive west and further away from the Mississippi River - lots of interesting stops and photo ops. It's a beautiful day; still very cold but it has stopped snowing. Still snow on the ground though, and lots of it....we drive through Gray Summit, St Clair, Bourbon, Cuba and Fanning to get to Rolla, MO. Now that I have only one device to take photographs I have no pics after about 3 in the afternoon....the battery goes flat. So, there are lots of gaps in the pics I'll have up....
