Thursday night I found out that I was on the late shift on Friday - 12pm to 8.30 pm - which meant that the gig I had planned to go to was off. Instead, I decided to ride and listen to my iPod.
I rode to Narre Warren station, got on the train, then got off at Malvern and rode to work.
It was lovely riding down Dandenong Road - that stretch has lots of Elm trees and old gardens. I now stay on my bike when I stop at lights; I used to get off and walk across - and am now sometimes riding on the road. Still don't feel safe but I'm getting tired of slowing down at driveways on the footpath. I also stayed on my bike the whole trip rather than having to get off to walk up hills....
After work I rode to Vivvy's and we watched old movies and ate pizza, then watched Rage until 3.30 am, waiting for The Good Stuff to come on. Saturday morning I had a nectarine for brekky and set off for Armadale station - another ride uphill. It was a beautiful morning and already quite hot. When I got home my face was blazing red, but from exertion not sunburn!
So, I put King of The Blues Volume 3 on and laid on the couch to read. Various sons came in and out and I did actually get up off the couch to do some housework and get food....Saturday blended into Sunday with more of the same.......I took Brenden's queen for the first time.....LOOK OUT B, I'M COMIN'!!! ....played with the dogs, bathed the dogs, listened to more music, practiced some chords and strumming and had a bath to try and ease the aches in my hips and tush from pushing up those hills.
Six workdays to go and I'm on holidays for 12 days. Am planning to head up to Daylesford to stay with my brother for a few days; maybe go to the ashram up there as well, and see some friends in Ballarat.
I've forgotten so far to write about one of the train drivers on the Pakenham line....a couple of weeks ago we were waiting at Dandenong and he made an announcement:
"Would the lady deciding whether to get off or stay on the train please decide now.....thank you Your Highness"
and then on Saturday at Hallam he said: " Hello customers, we have 18 doors on this train, please desist from all trying to get on the train via only one of them....."
He may be my perfect match.....oh yeah, that's right, my perfect match is Chris Cornell.....
