Thorung High Camp - 4,850mt. Rest stop for cup of tea.
Up at 4am as planned, however it was drizzling, then began to snow just before we were due to leave so we decided to wait for light. Would've been about a quarter before 6 when we headed off.
Again Ziv was out here waiting for us when we neared High Camp to tell us we were close, and encourage us. After that he hung behind me chatting until we reached the tea house at 5,000. He told me stories about his grandmother in Israel who refuses to acknowledge his vegetarianism - at family gatherings she says, oh just a bit of lamb then, ok?

When he reappeared over the top of a rise to tell us we were only another fifteen minutes from the pass it was like seeing an angel.
We met a guy who had come up the other way; he was from Queensland and was dressed like a cowboy, hat and all. He had dire tales to tell of what was in store for us ahead; death-defying paths at dizzying heights that his horses at home would definately have fallen down. And so on. Saying good-bye to our optimistic countryman we went on.

B had a hard day today; hit the wall. He needed to rest after every ten or so metres. Thin air. Me.... I cried when I looked up, and there was the sign with all the prayer flags flapping in the wind. 5,416 metres high.

Then, we had to get down. We were having a hard time, especially Brendo now that there wasn't the goal of the pass to spur him on. He was willing to beg a bed at the next sign of a dwelling of any kind. At one point he lay down and reckoned that's where he was staying. Yet, up he got to carry on. A couple of hours down a young Tibetan-Nepali guy came along and asked where we were going. He was also wanting to reach Muktinath so he suggested going down together and asked if we had any water to spare. We gave him water and he offered to carry one of our bags for us. Another angel.
Coming down took ages; B was exhausted. I fell over.
