Yesterday whilst looking for lunch we found the bestest place to eat, right on the lake and I had the most delicious fish curry I've ever tasted. We went back for dinner and both had a Newari veg set meal and a sweet lassi. I used to be one of those.....

Brenden wasn't impressed with the lassi, but he hasn't tried mango yet. The breeze coming off the lake was lovely, as was the 10 minute shower that followed some spectacular lightening. Yesterday I ripped my fishermans pants so we went wandering to do a spot of shopping - no pants big enough for this big mama! Will have another look today.

Last night at dinner we met Adam, and chatted with him until 10.30. He told us of his adventures climbing (a trek really) Kilimanjaro and of that morning's paragliding.

I've made B a guarantee that I'll beat him at chess by the time we are sitting in Bangkok airport again, on our way home. So far the score is 2 games to nil, his way.

Now it's lunch time and it sounds like the in-labour cow that woke me up this morning has given birth. It was 6am when I woke and looked out the window to see this shiny, glowing white peak in full view above the hill outside our window.

I left B asleep and walked along the lake to get our permits. Met some people; talked with three Tibetan women from the camp, talked with the soldiers guarding the palace, and the tourist police. Chatted with a tailor and his wife and got measured for a light cotton salwaar kameez; drank some tea with them. All round I walked for about 3 hours; picked up my punjabi suit and bought our permits and bus tickets to Besisahar - the bus leaves at 6.30am in the morning. On the way back I bought some apples and bananas for brekky on the bus.
We went back to the Newari Kitchen for tea where I had fish 'n chips and B, spag bol.
Up at 5.30 tomorrow to head off! We met Heinz tonight, who was repacking his pack and wanted to give away a D & C jacket. Swiss guy; lovely partner Daniela.
