Woke up this morning in the Kaibab trailer camp, Johnny woke up cranky and coughing. The cold strikes again! Barret went outside to start packing everything up and strapping everything down and immediately felt deflated (see picture "deflated"). Our goal is to make it to Roswell NM to celebrate Fourth of July with UFOlogist. Apparently there is some sort of Alien Extravaganza no shit, look it up. Instantly images from that episode of the X-Files pop up where Molder and Scully go to visit Roswell, except this time there is an alien mud run. You can't make this stuff up.

We headed towards Flagstaff with our last two breakfast burritos on the exhaust manifold.this area of the country is surprisingly beautiful. As we crossed through Arizona we passed through a valley called St. Johns, it was gorgeous, but quickly topped by Springerville. Barret finally got to stand on the corner in Winslow Arizona like the Eagles song, and it turns out to be the major attraction in Winslow (check out photos). We finally found the part of Arizona that everybody thinks of or that they picture Arizona to be. Pink and red rocks jutting out of the ground, like some giant hand stacked them there. We stopped at the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert National Park (see pictures). The kids are doing surprisingly well as this journey is over 12 hours long.

If you ever get the opportunity to drive down Route 66, take it. In many towns it's the only part that they have taken pride in maintaining. In others it's sad to see once stylish and proud pieces of our country fallen to ruins because there is now a quicker way to get where we are going. Quick glimpse back can be found at the Wigwam Motel. You can really see where they got the idea for the Cozy Cone in Radiator Springs (yup another Cars reference).

Johnny got to see amateur fireworks display in Socorro. Where apparently it's ok to shoot them off over every trailer park in town.

Well we finally arrived in Roswell, forgot about the time change so, we are off to bed.

Until tomorrow,
Jenn, Barret and "The Crew"
