Hola Peoples!

Well, yet another day in Barcelona and it was quite a full one. Oddly enough I woke up after 8 hours of sleep, at 7.30 am, totally refreshed and revving to go. That never happens. Seriously. I can get 10 hours of sleep at home, still have trouble getting out of bed and still be late for work......some of you who work with me know about the late part....but I digress.....
My aunt, the New Yorker, was out like a light. Usually when she visits me in SF she's the one up at 7am and waiting for me to get. I guess being on the other side of world agrees with my body. I'm all mixed up like that! So we discovered the night before that our fabulous hotel is right across from the Mercadona which is a big ol' supermarket. Yay! Inexpensive eats and treats! So we snagged some tasty pastries and fruits and started our day walking down the Avinguda Diagonal. It's the main drag in the newer, more modern part of Barcelona. It kind of reminds me of LA. Lots of shops and fashionable peeps. I'm trying to blend in more fashion-wise so I don't stand out too much as a tourist. I bought this very cool coat and am looking for some saucy boots. EVERYBODY wears boots here! And the shoe selections here are awesome!!!! If my bag wasn't already maxed out I'd be buying hella shoes. Did I just say hella? Oh well.
We saw 2 of the 9 Gaudi buildings that are on our list. That guy is nuts, I'm tellin' you. But his stuff is amazing. We went to the La Patrera, which is this wonderfully odd apartment complex. Then we checked out Casa Batllo which was a house that he designed for some dude and his familia. That was even wackier. Charles, this is the house for you. And I mean that in a good way. Hee! Dinner was next and we stumbled upon a great lil Tapas place along the Ramblas Catalunya. I was amazed at how full I became from so little....no wonder why the women here are so svelte!! It was all quite tasty and we were both quite happy.
On our way back to our hotel, it was about 8 ish or so and sprinkling, this guy, who had a map btw and looked like he lived there and spoke more Catalan than we did, stopped my aunt and asked her where so and so was. Me being my highly paranoid self was thinking....SCAM ALERT...DO NOT TALK TO HIM!! I grabbed my aunts arm and looked at the guy and said NO. We don't know. And kept pulling her but she kept tryin gto answer his question....which she didn't even know the asnwer to!! He kept looking at me like he was going to just keep trying to engage my aunt. I finally pulled her away and told her to not engage anybody like that. He just seemed  suspicious. Why ask the 2 people who DON'T look like they live here?? I don't think so brother....go mess with some other targets. You ain't gettin' me or my aunt, no how, now way. Ok, of course, now that I've said that I'll probably be mugged, beaten up and thrown in the dumpster. Ouy. Sillyness. And we haven't even visited the sketchier part of Barcleona which is in Old Town where all the really old cool stuff is. That's where my radar is going to go off the hook. And I think I scared my aunt because now sje doesn't want to ride the Metro subway and only wants to ride the buses. Just as well! More pictures are on the way. I can only upload pics from my phone so excuse the quality. Pics from my other cameras will have to be added when I get back. Whew! Ok, I should get back to my room before my aunt thinks I've been kidnapped. Hee! Ciao from rainy Barcelona!
